so over the weekend im on balboa ave. and i see two people on a bike. BUT!...it was a tandem bike. not like the one where someones behind the driver, but it was ONE BIKE. the seat post was pretty much a T and had two seats side-by-side that came off it.
each rider used one foot to pedal. i don't remember how the handlebars were. it might have been extended, but it didn't look like it.

i know i haven't blogged in months, but after zagat rated 5guys over in-n-out for best burger i had to check it out myself.

i'll start off with just the burger...
i can see how this place could be good if you can't get an in-n-out burger from where you live. it wasn't thaaat bad, but it's NOT as good as in-n-out. the bun wasn't as good and the cheese on my burger wasn't fully meleted. they don't have a spread but you have an option to choose mayo/ketchup/mustard. i got all in hopes to simulate some sort of spread. also got grilled onions, which weren't up to par as in-n-out. they have a bacon burger but i opted out to try a burger that resembles something in-n-out would serve (to make a somewhat fair comparison). the meat was pretty good, but i'll have to disagree with zagat. in-n-out!!

now, overall i think the place has a striking resemblance with in-n-out. i didn't like the way the burgers were just wrapped in foil and contrary to what the menu says, a burger/cheseburger/etc. is really a double double style burger with two patties. a "little burger" isn't something for a kids meal, but *i think* a single patty normal burger. also, their fries are ok. i LOVE in-n-out fries all the way down to the way it's served in a nice tray. at 5guys, you get your fries in a cup and they have normal 5guys fries and cajun fries.

pretty good burgers. not better than in-n-out.

i was hoping i could get a january sesh with the gf. instead, we drove through traffic and the crowds only to try our gear on in the parking lot.

i know there was gonna be a crowd since the storm two weeks ago, and i THOUGHT we were makin' good time:
- 445a: got up
- 545a: on the road
- 715a: s'bucks & pee break
- 730a: start the drive from the bottom of the mtn
- 1100a: parked at the farthest summit lot (took 3.5hrs to get up there. didn't even park in the brownie lot, the garstin lot! bet you didn't know that lot even existed, huh)
- 1145a: after 45mins in the shuttle line they announce half day lift tix are sold out! only night sessions avail
- noon: leave bear mtn

also got rear ended on the way up =\.

there is some good out of today though...
- spent time w/ the gf and monica.
- got to hear big boy in the morn
- visited my prawn brother and his gf. watched district 9 over islands.
- gained more appreciation of lady gaga =X

Labor Day Wrap Up

awesome 3 day weekend for labor day!

started it off seeing the pharcyde at canes! all of them were there! imani, bootie brown, fatlip AND slimkid tre! what you don't know is what made it sooo good was not a member of the pharcyde, but lorenzohhh's company.

then, spent a good sat night at a friend's bbq slash the-parents-ain't-home-so-lets-farty party. can't think of a better time than hanging out w/ friends you don't see too often + beers + beef + bmx bikes + board bames + buitar bero.

sunday night was spent downtown. since we couldn't get into onyx for hiphopkaraoke since that damn doorlady wanted $20 (when it was really $5) we drank x2 crown y cokes over some drum & bass =\

spent labor day hanging out at the pool! gf's fam came over for a fun day at the pool.

sunday morning i walk to my car that's parked on the street and i found out i had parked my car under a bird shitter all night. great. just detailed my car the weekend before too.

later that day, i realized someone or someTHING grazed the side of my car the same night. i have no idea what it could have been (if it even was a car)? it hit the rear driver's side of my car and there were some scuffs that went along the side/roof all the way to the driver side window. also noticed my rear view mirror was pushed forward. =*( maybe someone was drunk? i guess i'm glad they didn't do more damage...

oh yeah. i did have a good weekend though. better than monica at least.

in an effort to take advantage of summer (and doing 1/5 fav things to do in SD during the season), gf and i went for a slightly longer bike ride after work.

on the way back we went up the boardwalk for a change and i saw a seagull starting to fly across my path 'bout 10ft. away. i always have a feeling that birds wanna shit on me if they fly directly through my path, so i tapped the brakes and swerved left. i tell the truth when i say THE BIRD DROPPED DEUCE DEUCES RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME! it was probably like 5-6ft. in front of me when i saw 'em drop.

'bout 3 weeks ago i got an urge to get skate 2, a game both the gf and i could play. we went to target that night and it was closed. missed it by 5mins =(
